Barack Obama is the most extreme pro-abortion candidate ever to seek the office of President of the United States. He is the most extreme pro-abortion member of the United States Senate. Indeed, he is the most extreme pro-abortion legislator ever to serve in either house of the United States Congress.

I am constantly befuddled by the number of evangelicals, especially younger evangelicals, who are falling for his rhetoric, and who don't seem to care about this particualr issue.

It goes beyond the younger evangelicals. I'm currently debating an older evangelical professor who considers it laudable that Obama won't sign on to a ban on partial birth abortion unless there is a provisio for the health of the mother. It's astonishing to hear the arguments that come forth from the evangelical community (e.g., Obama is pro-choice, not pro-abortion; we cannot legislate morality; what about the war in Iraq?; etc.).

Those kinds of arguments just don't carry any water for me. There is no moral equivalence between a war and aborting babies. To insinuate there is, is to be intellectually slippery. Concerning the health of the mother, given technology the way it is now, those cases are fewer and fewer all the time. Additionally, I think we need to be really careful when we want to knowingly engage in evil behavior to avoid a tragedy of nature.
