From Gettysburg, by Stephen Sears,
In the week prior to the July battle at Gettysburg, Robert E. Lee was advancing into Maryland. On another advance, the previous year, he had proposed presenting an agreement for peace to the North, while poised to strike the capital of Washington. Lee understood the cultural-political situation in the North - the war was going badly, the administration was under attack, the South only wanted independence. He understood the weaknesses and critical areas with which the North was vulnerable.
...
[Lee] proposed to Mr. Davis that they couple the army's offensive into Maryland with a peace overture to Washington. ...Shrewdly, Lee pointed out that should Lincoln and his Republican administration reject the peace overture, they would have to accept the onus of prolonging the war "for purposes of their own." Northerners going to the polls that fall, he said, could easily see who was responsible for the continued fighting.
(emphasis added)
If this was the tactic of an honorable enemy such as Lee, who only wanted independence, what are we to expect from the Islamic terrorist, who only wants our destruction?
Perhaps, we would expect said Islamic terrorists to capitalize on the naively pluralistic cultural-political view of the West?
If so, then we shouldn't be surprised to see CNN airing al-Qaeda video of U.S. soldiers being shot by al-Qaeda snipers. And we shouldn't be surprised because I'd bet good money that the Islamic terrorists understand the reasons why CNN does not publish the Mohammed cartoons. Yes, as Blackfive states, CNN plays into the hands of the enemy.
Next up, from the enemy that understands us, a video from the man himself, certain to be broadcast to billions.
